One of Those Days

(Taken from family blog)

Miss Addie you sure made me work for your loves today. You definitely had a rough day. I'm speaking about meltdowns after meltdowns. You screamed with each diaper change, you screamed every time your nose was wiped (it had to be wiped a lot), you screamed because you found your monkey costume in your toy bin and wanted me to put it on you, and then you screamed because I got the monkey costume on you and you decided you didn't want to wear it after all.
Nose was running all day long.
You screamed because you wanted to go on a walk and screamed when I put a sweater on you before letting you go outside. I strapped you into the stroller, which made you scream. You hated that the sun was in your direction but then hated it when I put down the stroller umbrella to shield the sun. I decided to walk to a nearby park we've never been to. Trust me, taking you to the park was more for my sanity than it was for you. I'm sure the park was a nice break for both of us. You absolutely LOVED the park. You probably loved it too much because you screamed the entire fifteen minutes it took to walk back home. I know, because I timed it.

She definitely threw a tantrum after this picture because she was done with her headband.
We finally got home and I just left you in your sweater to avoid another tantrum. You handed me the remote and asked "George?". Defeated I  turned it on for you even though you had already watched the Curious George movie all the way through earlier this morning. After I turned it on I looked at you and said, 'Addie I love you, do you love me?'. I wasn't expecting an answer so I'm not sure why I asked. You didn't say anything but you climbed up on my lap and then kissed my cheek. It was exactly what I needed. You sat on my lap for the next twenty minutes holding one of my hands. The night ended with plenty more meltdowns after the movie but because of our moment of peace together I had a little more patience for it than I did during the first half of today.

Even after such an exhausting day I still find myself completely grateful for you. You fell asleep in my arms tonight and I started missing you as soon as I put you down. I can't think of any other person who could drive me beyond crazy all day and yet still leave me with a heart bursting full of love for them. Well maybe your father could get away with it. But then again if your father acted like you did today I would probably still be annoyed after he fell asleep haha.

I love you Addie girl but fingers crossed tomorrow has more hugs and cuddles than tears and fits.

Maybe today wouldn't have been so brutal if yesterday hadn't been such a delight.

Missing the Sun

Addie had a little play date scheduled today with Allen and JoAnn's little boy but he woke up this morning not feeling good so it's being postponed. We also woke up to it snowing outside so we're staying indoors today. Needless to say I think Addie and I are both missing the sun today. She was such a happy girl during our walk last week so of course I captured a lot of her smiles.

I sure do love this gal.

50 in February

Well Addie is in bed for the night and I'm now waiting for Danny to return home from work. Since I have some extra time right now I thought I would post some pictures I took today of Addie during our walk. Well it would've been a walk but she insisted that I run so we ended up having a nice jog today.
I hope the weather continues to get warmer considering that this is how bundled up Addie had to be during our walks a week ago.
She insists that Kitty joins us. I love it.

500 Days

(Taken from family blog)

500 days ago I held my tiny (yet chubby) newborn in my arms for the first time. That newborn has turned into a little lady with so much sass, sweetness and personality. I seriously don't think I could love her more than I already do. Lately she's been extra cuddly with me. She insists on sitting on my lap and then every few minutes she'll look up at me and give me a kiss on the cheek. It makes me melt. She definitely knows how to work my emotions. If I tell her no and not to do something she'll turn on her charm by blowing me a kiss or saying "love you". Of course a second later she's back to trying to get away with the thing I told her not to do in the first place.

These last 500 days have been exhausting, exhilarating, challenging, rewarding, long, fast, full of tears and full of love; and I wouldn't have it any other way.
She's my heart outside my body.

Biggest Fan

(Taken from family blog)

In the last month Addie has gone from 40 to 60 words. At some point I should probably stop keeping track of each thing she does but she seriously blows me away with everything she can do. I'm okay knowing that I'm one of those moms. She's going to grow up knowing that I am her biggest fan. Lately she's been working on pointing out body parts and making animal noises. She can show you where her hair, eyes, nose, teeth, ears, feet, hands and belly are. She makes the funniest sound effects for when she shows you where her belly is.

Danny decided he wanted to start skyping with us before she goes to bed since he's at work. So I managed to get a video of her showing him some animal sounds. I realized a couple of weeks ago that she still doesn't quite know what each animal is but she has the general idea of what it looks like. For example about a little while ago she handed me the 101 Dalmatians DVD case and was saying "moo!". She thought the dalmatian puppies were little cows. It was too cute to correct her.

On Skype with Daddy
Addie has been able to mimic both puppy and monkey noises since around ten months old and shortly after learned how to meow like a cat. Recently in the last three weeks she has picked up noises for cow, horse, sheep and bird. I can't wait for the weather to get warmer so that she can spend more time outside on the Ferguson family farm, I feel like she'll love the animals even more than she did last summer, which is saying something because she really loved the animals.

Here's the video of her Skyping her Daddy.
I guess she was being too silly to show him her actual monkey noise that night. :)
And a little bonus short clip of her playing with her Daddy again.

Her last 20 words:
Grandma
Nana (bananas)
Boo
Love you
Bath
Bubble
Thanks
Amen
Diaper
Poo
Catch
Throw it
Wa Wa (my fault - I handed her a sippy cup of water and called it that and then it stuck)
Georgia (I tend her baby cousin Georgia Navy every week)
Nice
Moo
Baa
Neigh
Tweet
Choo choo (we live right next to the train tracks)

*She's been working on hot, hat and Polly but doesn't know these words well enough to count yet.*

I think it's pretty obvious how impressed and in love I am with our little one. I'll say it again, one might be my new favorite age.
